Day Thirteen - MONDAY, March 17

You may see these posts on the day before their actual date as I want to get them up on the web in time for the early birds among us.  Have a great week of reading and thinking about the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 9:35-38 (NIV)

[35] Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. [36] When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. [37] Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. [38] Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

  1. To receive the Content of "teaching" requires a willingness of mind to open my understanding. In this sense the synagogue goers had the scriptures opened to them like never before. I doubt that Jesus ever said "Rabbi So and So says this about that" as a proof for his explanations.
To receive the Content of "preaching" requires faith to believe what I am hearing. To receive the Good News of the Kingdom would require faith on the part of the Jews and the Gentiles alike.
